Surprise longtail transfer charge
Because Koh Lipe has no deep-water pier, the ferry drops passengers offshore and a longtail boat then carries them to the beach — some operators present this as an extra, unbudgeted fee once you are already aboard and cannot easily object.
What to do: Ask whether the beach transfer is included when you buy your ferry ticket on the mainland, not once you are on the water.
Bundled multi-stop ferry upsell
Agents in Hat Yai or at Pak Bara sell a "direct" combined bus-and-ferry ticket that is in fact several separate legs sold together at a marked-up combined price.
